Dear Jack,
I am a seventh grader who stands at five feet four inches. I have light blue eyes that everybody seems to think are very cool, so I like that feature about myself. I have brown hair that I like to grow out a little but during the summer, a buzz- cut is always coming soon. I like many things that have to do with sports or the outdoors. Football is my favorite sport. I am a first string center for the Mequon Cardinals. I am glad to say this gave me a reputation with all the other football players at my school. Basketball and golf are some other sports I like to play. Another big part of my life is hunting and fishing. I got my first deer in the 2009 season up at my uncle’s land in Polk County. This is who I am.
I have a few friends at school. I sometimes hang out with the guys on my football team or basketball team, but my best friend is Connor Scholtus. We enjoy a lot of the same things like football and hunting. He’s a smart kid, but not a huge fan of school. I can almost say the same thing about myself. He plays on the other Cardinal football team due to the amount of kids. Connor and I are friends to the point our parents consider us brothers.
A few major events that happened in seventh grade are the earthquake in Haiti. This was arguably the most tragic thing this year. This earthquake left thousands homeless and a lot killed. Another major event is the volcano eruption in Iceland. This eruption caused a huge billow of ash to scatter all over Western Europe and delayed or stopped any flights for days. I said the earthquake was arguably the most tragic; the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is way up at the top of the list. A tanker blew up and dumped millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf. It is nearly impossible to clean up all of this mess. People on the shoreline and wildlife are helpless until all this gets cleaned up.
This school year could have been a little better. The locker situation is a little harder than I would have wanted it to be, due to the eighth grade lockers on top of ours. The classes are somewhat hard, yet interesting. Civics is my hardest class, with my final grade no higher than a B. My easiest class is science. Learning about astronomy, biology, magnetism, and electricity is very interesting and easy to get an A. We have read a number of books such as Elijah of Buxton, The Education of Little Tree, The Westing Game, The Hobbit, and The Outsiders. These books were alright. The quizzes were a little hard, but I was always able to bear with it.
I received a caddy job In June 2010, at the Ozaukee Country Club. Hopefully, this will be a great summer job. I am almost sure that I will go to Homestead High School. I would like to play football there, so I can help the successful seasons go on. I want to get good grades, and go to college right away. I would like to go to Michigan Technical College in the U.P. It is a great school and it gave my uncle and my cousin great jobs. I would like to become a mechanical engineer because I love to tinker with mechanical things and learn how they work. It just fascinates me. The only thing now, am I the same?
